Stock & Associates assisted the winemaker to set up a temporary winery next to an existing barn that would be used initially for barrel storage, office and lab. We utilized the change in elevation between an upper road and the barn access to create a platform for loading the stemmer/crusher and the press. A large slab was poured with footing to support a metal building enclosure that was added in a second phase. Rectangular open top fermentors were organized in a pair of nested "U"s to facilitate utility layout, simplify the catwalks and pneumatic punch-down device. A freestanding barrel storage building was designed to hold 1,250 barrels and be built in a third phase.
